Indonesia - Day 4 - May 4, 2011

Day 4 -- May 4
Locaton: Sanur, Bali

We stayed in Sanur today -- where our hotel is located.

Breakfast was a beautiful buffet -- gorgeous fruits and juices,  custom omlettes, breads, yogurts, cheese, meats, potatoes, beans, and of course rice.

After breakfast, we went for a long walk along the beach.

The coast looks so serene.

There is a really nice brick walkway that follows the coast that stretches for miles -- walkers, bikes and motor cycles use it. Lots of motor cycles here -- going in every direction imaginable and getting there fast.  We checked out a couple of the beachfront resorts along the way.  They are all so beautiful -- great landscaping, sculptures, pools, etc.

Took the shuttle to a huge store named Hardy's. Three floors of STUFF -- regular shopping for Indonesians and lots of touristy things that were quite cheap.  There was everything from sarongs to purses to groceries and more. MJ was looking for a swim suit -- no luck there, but she did buy one on the beach later in the day.

While at Hardy's, we met a woman from San Fran. Her driver escorted me -- in the store -- to the area where I bought a phone for local use. The woman is an artist, traveling alone and joined us for dinner. We are going with her and her driver tomorrow to a batik factory. Supposedly really high quality product with the bonus of watching production.

I took a three hour nap this aft. Just ran out of steam and had to crash. MJ still doesn't have her luggage -- both bags got lost along the way and one showed up today. Unfortunately, the one that arrived was the one with snow globes for our hosts and the Princess in Ubud -- no clothes. She looked real cute today at the pool in one of my camis and her pj bottoms. She has a great sense of humor and is taking her lack of clothes with style :)

Four people with our FF group arrived today -- Dan Coughlin, Judi Reed, and Sandy & Ron Hartley.  Dan joined us for dinner, but the others were heading straight to bed.

Food has been good -- last night's was better than tonight, but tonight we ate on the beach, literally -- our table was out on the sand -- so that made up for it.

That's about it for today. Goodnight here or good morning to you there.
